What is sedation in dentistry?

In general, I’ll start with the fact that my youngest son’s teeth were terrible... And just at the moment when he woke up, we were there ...God, I have never heard such a wild cry...I wanted to grab my child in my arms and go as far as possible. I began to prepare for the worst. After talking with the anesthesiologist, we were taken to the intensive care unit. The child had already begun to sob as soon as he saw this chair. We sat down together, turned on cartoons, he didn’t seem to be crying. They offered to breathe into the mask - he didn’t want to. I held his hands, the doctor held his legs, the anesthesiologist held his head. He didn’t cry, but he was very actively resisting, jerking all his limbs))) After 30 seconds he weakens, and passes out) We put him on a chair and they kick me out..
For all three hours I sat in the hall, the administrator gave me tea and sometimes went to find out how things were going there))) And then our doctor came out and showed photographs of what had happened and what had happened. I went to see my still sleeping hamster. He He slept soundly in a chair, wrapped in a blanket. About 6 minutes later he began to wake up... In general, he didn’t really cry that much, but whined)) Only me I started to dress him, he immediately fell silent) I realized that we were leaving))) It seems to me that he cried primarily from discomfort in his mouth, everything was so dry there, his lips were cracked, his upper lip was swollen.
In general, I put him in the car and we left... He was dozing in the car, at home he had already walked away a little, he started laughing) But he couldn’t walk for an hour, he was storming in different directions))) No vomiting, nothing like that happened. After sitting at home for an hour , we went to a teahouse for a family holiday, and there he was attacked by a wild glutton: washing down cutlets with potatoes with soup, stuffing tomatoes into his mouth along with scoops of ice cream, the child was absolutely happy)))) Having eaten well, he ran to play with the animators )))
And now I want to write what was going on in my head... If suddenly my children’s teeth get damaged again, I will never do such a thing in my life!!! Even if they all fucking rot, I don’t want to go through it again!! This feeling I will never forget the betrayal when you forcefully hold your child, this little sleeping lump, with cracked lips, with a catheter in his hand, with an exhausted pale face. Several times on the way to the clinic, I wanted to turn around and go home. During these three hours What I was waiting for, I bit my lips until they bled, smoked a pack of cigarettes and already mentally buried my son. Maybe I’m too emotional, or maybe I have hyper-love, but I no longer want to expose my child to such danger.
