Spasmalgon for toothache: will it help or not, dosage and rules of administration

The drug Spazmalgon has an antispasmodic and analgesic effect. After taking it, the smooth muscle tissues come to a relaxed state, due to which the painful sensation decreases and the spasm is relieved. Teeth, as you know, consist of bone tissue. This raises the question: “Is the drug able to relieve toothache?” Next, we’ll look at how to take it, whether it will help with severe pain, and what contraindications exist.

Composition and pharmacological properties

Spasmalgon is a drug that has an antispasmodic and analgesic effect. It has a relaxing effect on smooth muscle tissue, reduces pain and relieves spasms.

Pain in the teeth is accompanied by throbbing or lumbago that radiates to the ear or head. The Spazmalgon tablet will relax the muscle tissue, which will block pain impulses, which will make toothache less noticeable.

The medicine contains three main active ingredients:

  • metamizole sodium (500 mg per tablet);
  • pitofenone hydrochloride (5 mg);
  • phenylpervinium bromide (100 mcg).

The first compound is also part of the well-known Analgin. Metamizole is a non-steroidal analgesic that prevents the occurrence of biochemical reactions that lead to the synthesis of prostaglandins in inflamed tissues. It effectively relieves moderate pain, but cannot save acute pain.

The second substance is added to painkillers to relax smooth muscles, which helps to get rid of spasms more effectively. Phenylpervinium bromide has a similar effect.

Concomitant additives include: starch, lactose monohydrate, gelatin, magnesium stearate.
