Recipe for calamus and propolis tincture for teeth

How to rinse with propolis tincture at home

Propolis tincture for rinsing teeth and gums can be purchased at a pharmacy or prepared independently.
A home procedure will require compliance with the rules to obtain a healing effect and safe use. Rinse instructions:

  • Dilute 1 small spoon of propolis tincture with alcohol in a glass of warm water (or 30 drops per 200 ml).
  • Place the liquid in your mouth and rinse for 30–40 seconds.
  • Spit, repeat the procedure with a new portion of the mixture.
  • Rinse for 2–4 minutes.

The number of repetitions to achieve a therapeutic effect is 3–5 times a day. It is better to perform the procedure after eating food, before going to bed. This will help remove food debris and disinfect the surfaces of gum tissue, teeth and mucous membranes.

Water-based tinctures are used more often due to the lack of side effects. The only contraindication is an allergic reaction to uza. For children and pregnant women, only an aqueous solution is recommended. Strengthening the therapeutic effect is obtained by diluting the product in a decoction of oak bark, calendula, and chamomile.

Sometimes an unpleasant, putrid odor emanates from the mouth, for example, with periodontal disease. Rinsing with bee glue infusion will help cope with this problem. For the procedure, you will need to dilute the healing solution (a few drops) with 200 ml of mint infusion. It is better to rinse in the morning and before bed.

How is propolis used for gums?

To eliminate unpleasant symptoms, propolis is used for gums in the form of an alcohol-based pharmaceutical infusion. However, the product is easy to prepare at home (recipe). The best time for this is the autumn months, since beekeepers collect bee glue in the summer.

When using alcohol, a complete transition of healing substances to liquid occurs. The infusion is also prepared on a water basis, but some of the elements remain in the propolis, since the resins interfere with dissolution.

Ways to use bee glue:

  • Chewing. Propolis is used in its pure form or with the addition of other ingredients. It is common to make sweets from cocoa powder, honey, and oza. In this form, propolis helps with toothache, also strengthens enamel, relieves inflammation, and prevents the formation of caries.
  • Rinsing. A therapeutic procedure for the purpose of disinfection, pain relief and improvement of the condition of the oral mucosa. The rinse is used in the form of a pure tincture or with the addition of a herbal decoction of mint, sage, and chamomile.
  • Baths. The procedure is applied by mixing propolis infusion (2 teaspoons) with a glass of warm water, keeping the liquid in the mouth for 2-3 minutes. Benefits: pain relief, cleansing interdental spaces and gum pockets, giving fresh breath.
  • Lotions. A common option is when gum tissue is damaged or the socket bleeds after tooth extraction. Benefits: protection from suppuration, inflammation, healing, reduction of burning, pain. You need to wet a cotton pad with alcohol infusion and apply it to the affected area.

The methods listed above help combat most dental problems. Additional options for use: cauterization of ulcers on the mucous membrane using a cotton swab dipped in the infusion, and adding a propolis solution to toothpaste to strengthen the enamel.

Swollen gums and pain - what are the reasons?

They can be completely different. But they are always there. And you need to be able to see them in order to be able to not only determine what is wrong with you and what led to it, but also to prevent the recurrence of such unpleasant situations in the future.

We invite you to familiarize yourself with Second molars: what kind of teeth are they?

1. Inflammation at the apex of the tooth root. 99% of such problems with gums are a consequence of exacerbation of the inflammatory process at the apex of the tooth root. Such statistics are evidenced by practice, and they are also confirmed by studies conducted several years ago by domestic scientists dealing with problems of the oral cavity.

2. Poor quality medical care, expressed in violation of the technology of filling dental canals. This is how granulomas, radicular cysts, and so on can appear. Pus, which turns out to be securely sealed, has no other way out (both literally and figuratively) than to look for other ways of discharge - through the gums.

3. Caries and pulpitis, as well as delay in taking adequate medical measures for their timely, high-quality elimination, that is, their consequences.

Because of this, purulent inflammation develops, which often manifests itself in the form of problems with the gums. And if toothache is also involved, it is always important to know what to do for toothache at home. How to quickly get rid of pain.

3. Cold. Hypothermia, which is its cause, can affect both directly the condition of the gums and teeth, and indirectly - only “giving” back to them.

4. Tooth extraction, which caused complications. Gums suffer from this very often. But, even if the tooth was removed 100% correctly, then pain and swelling of the gums is its inevitable consequence in the vast majority of cases, this is how the body reacts to mechanical trauma to soft tissues.

5. Eruption of wisdom teeth in adults. This is a very painful process accompanied by severe discomfort. Not everyone experiences it, but most people do.

6. Gingivitis, periodontitis, periodontal disease. These are all stages of the disease caused by one lesion. As a rule, its causes are: lack of hygiene procedures, their improper implementation, bacterial pathogens, mechanical stress on the gums and teeth. Often, several of these factors are combined, which leads to sore gums, swelling, redness, bad breath, and so on.

If the gums are not treated, and the cause of their pain is not eliminated in time, then the symptoms may worsen, moreover, both the tooth itself and your health may be at risk, which is explained by the close proximity of the source of the problem to the brain, visual organs, and ears .

How is propolis used for gums?

Speaking about how to use propolis for gums, it is worth paying attention to the fact that in this case the most effective method of treating and preventing dental diseases, which also affect the gums, is rinsing. Propolis rinses perfectly remove plaque, which usually accumulates in the area of wisdom teeth.

Regular use of propolis preparations can reduce the sensitivity of the gums and teeth, and also serves as an excellent prevention of periodontal disease and bleeding gums, and, which is a rather pleasant bonus, helps make teeth whiter. And at the same time, it is worth saying that propolis does not destroy tooth enamel.

Propolis: healing properties, tincture recipe

Propolis is a type of building material called bee glue, which is produced by worker bees to seal cracks in hives and disinfect honeycombs. It has a pleasant smell of honey and pine needles, a bitter taste, and its color can be dark green, brown or brown, which directly depends on the plant from which it was collected.

Propolis is known as a valuable medicine of natural origin. It owes its healing properties to the components included in its composition:

  • resins including acacetin, kaempferide, apigenin, ermanin and aromatic species – 50%,
  • wax – 30%,
  • oils – 10%,
  • pollen from flowering plants - 5%,
  • minerals such as zinc, magnesium, fluorine, sodium, vanadium, as well as steroids, sugar, and vitamins A, E, C, B1, B2, B6 - 5%.

Thanks to the composition of propolis, rich in useful elements and essential oils:

  1. Acts as an antiseptic. It helps suppress the growth of pathogenic microflora, inhibiting the development of the disease.
  2. Heals wounds, accelerating the process of tissue regeneration.
  3. Relieves inflammation.
  4. Has an analgesic effect.

Propolis can be consumed in its natural form or made into tinctures. There are three options for preparing them:

  1. On alcohol. In order to get a 10% alcohol tincture, you need to take 100 ml of alcohol and dissolve 10 grams of crushed raw materials in it in a glass container. Leave for 7-14 days in a place protected from light, shake the container 3-4 times every day. This version of rinsing with propolis disinfects and strengthens the tooth surface. However, there should be no wounds, ulcers or other damage to the mucous membrane in the oral cavity.
  2. On the water. This propolis tincture is perfect for rinsing teeth and interdental spaces when painful sensations appear in them.
  3. With milk. To rinse, add 25 drops of propolis alcohol tincture to 150 ml of milk. The person must have a normal sensitivity to dairy products.

In each case, the tincture must be diluted before use. It is advisable to rinse with propolis no more than 3 times a day.

Causes

The variety of reasons leading to discomfort in the oral cavity is great, but often inflammatory phenomena cause situations where the gums hurt very badly:

  • Gingivitis is a gum disease that is accompanied by bleeding, swelling and hyperemia. Usually appears against a background of low hygiene;
  • marginal periodontitis - causes changes in the soft tissue and bone structure, which often explains why the gums are swollen and red. In this case, bleeding occurs, and pathological pockets are formed, which are a source of maintaining infection in the oral cavity;
  • apical periodontitis – a purulent infiltrate develops on the root of the tooth, which leads to thickening of the gums and the growth of a painful rounded seal near the causative tooth;
  • mechanical trauma - the overhanging edge of poorly executed dental restorations or sharp areas of artificial crowns cause irritation of the mucous membrane and contribute to the occurrence of ulcerations. This also occurs in cases where a removable denture strongly rubs the gums, causing them to swell and hurt;
  • difficult growth of a wisdom tooth - the “figure eight” appears in adulthood, when the tissues of the maxillofacial area are already formed, which disrupts its passage through the bone and aggravates eruption;
  • pain after extraction - tooth extraction is sometimes complicated by an atypical location of the roots or difficult access, followed by the inability to fully grasp the crown with forceps, which leads to damage to the mucous membrane and the development of pain;
  • discomfort after grinding - when treating the cervical area with diamond burs, small cuts of the gums occur, which causes discomfort for several days.

We invite you to familiarize yourself with the wisdom tooth in humans - structure and features

The main pathological conditions that arise against the background of inflammatory disorders appear due to certain factors.

  1. Low level of care for gums and teeth (how to care for your teeth and mouth?).
  2. Decrease in the body's defense response.
  3. Vitamin deficiency.
  4. Burdened with chronic diseases.
  5. Cysts.
  6. Bad habits.
  7. Poor quality or high wear of the toothbrush.

Contraindications

Despite the fact that calamus tincture is a completely natural and safe drug, it also has some contraindications. There are few of them, but before you start using the product, you must familiarize yourself with them and, if necessary, consult with a specialist.

    Natural propolis
  1. It is forbidden to use calamus root for any kind of bleeding. If your gums are bleeding, you must first either stop the bleeding or use another treatment method.
  2. Hypotensive patients are strictly prohibited from using calamus root.
  3. If a person has increased acidity of gastric juice, then one should refrain from taking calamus tincture orally. However, in case of urgent need to take it for such an illness, you can add any other plant to the tincture, which reduces the production of hydrochloric acid in the body.
  4. Calamus tincture is not recommended for pregnant women.

When treating with this folk remedy, it is very important not to exceed the recommended dose of use. Otherwise, it can lead to poisoning or even vomiting. Neglect of the contraindications presented above can lead to the same result.
