Furacilin is an effective antimicrobial drug

Types of Furacilin for the throat

Furacilin for the throat is an antiseptic drug of synthetic origin. The active ingredients of the drug are nitrofural and nitrofuran. The components are active against bacteria, which most often cause painful and inflammatory processes in the external respiratory organs. The drug suppresses the activity of fungal flora.

Main types of medicinal product:

  1. Furacilin tablets. The release form is round tablets, their color is yellow. Before use, dissolve 2 tablets in a glass of warm water, as prescribed in the instructions.
  2. Sterile solution of Furacilin. Active substances are dissolved in purified water. The medicine is already ready for use; the product can be used to treat affected areas - throat, mouth, skin. Furacilin for rinsing should not be taken orally.

How to dilute Furacilin for adults

Furacilin solution for gargling is often used for sore throat. If there are purulent rashes in the oral cavity or on the tonsils, the medicine effectively washes away bacterial plaque, dries out the rash, and promotes healing of the mucous membrane.

The alcohol solution of Furacilin contains ethyl alcohol, so some caution should be exercised when using it. The concentrated solution is not used internally, but for treating skin and mucous surfaces it is diluted with water. Women should not gargle with Furacilin during pregnancy (especially in the 3rd trimester) and during breastfeeding.

How to prepare Furacilin solution for adults:

  1. A teaspoon of alcohol solution should be mixed with a glass of warm water.
  2. The liquid is intensively mixed.
  3. The solution is suitable for rinsing mucous membranes and treating open wounds.

How to dilute Furacilin for children

For diseases of the nasopharynx, Furacilin is considered a universal remedy for children. Systematic treatment allows you to achieve significant improvements - eliminate plaque, relieve inflammation, cleanse and moisturize the mucous membrane. To dilute the medicine for a child, you should prepare 1 tablet and 100 ml of boiled water at room temperature (this is about ½ cup). Grind the tablet, add it to water, mix the liquid so that there is no sediment, and begin rinsing.

Important! Children aged 5-6 years can gargle independently. Until this age, hygienic rinsing with the solution should be carried out under the strict supervision of parents.

Furacilin can also be used for newborns if this remedy is recommended by a doctor. For children, the solution is used to wipe the mucous membranes of the eyes during infection, and is also used to treat otitis media or inflammation of the skin.

How to use the prepared Furacilin solution

The medicine, in the form of an alcohol or aqueous solution, is used externally for purulent wounds, burns, bruises, bedsores. You can prepare a solution from tablets yourself, and then treat the affected areas of the body.

For sore throat or otitis media, it is advisable to use a compress based on an alcohol solution of Furacilin. To do this, a bandage folded in several layers is soaked in a medicinal liquid (preparation scheme: 1 teaspoon per 50 ml for children or 100 ml for adults of warm water). A furatsilin compress is applied to the chest, neck or back and is additionally insulated.

Attention! You cannot rinse your throat and mouth with an alcohol solution of Furacilin in its pure form; the liquid must be mixed with water in a ratio of 1/10. One part of alcoholic Furacilin to 10 parts of boiled water.

Pharmacological properties

Furacilin is a drug with a pronounced antimicrobial effect, which is used to treat and prevent various inflammations. It has a fairly wide spectrum of action and is used in the form of a liquid alcohol or aqueous solution. It is part of the most effective sprays, creams and ointments, and can be applied to the mucous membranes or skin.

The main active ingredient is furatsilin, better known among pharmacologists as nitrofuril. When it gets on the affected area, it turns into a thin film, causing the proteins of fungi and bacteria to coagulate. Their cells are destroyed and inflammation stops. This effect is observed in relation to staphylococci, streptococci, and gram-positive microorganisms. Despite the low price, doctors note that in some situations it is much stronger than expensive drugs.

In dentistry, the drug is used in the following cases:

  • treatment of gums after installation of dentures and complex implants;
  • rinsing for wounds or ulcers;
  • treatment of purulent infections in the throat that threaten to spread to the oral cavity;
  • application to fistulous tracts in the gums;
  • rinsing for stomatitis or gingivitis;
  • lotions on the inflamed area to eliminate swelling and resolve lumps after injections;
  • wiping away sticks and plaque in the corners of the mouth to treat the effects of candidiasis.

Furacilin solution for stomatitis is one of the most time-tested methods of eliminating this unpleasant disease. The problem is provoked by the proliferation of fungi of the genus yeast and harmful bacteria, which lead to the appearance of painful ulcers in the mouth. The mucous membrane swells, a burning sensation begins, making it difficult to eat. Using the medicine to rinse or lubricate bleeding wounds helps them heal faster and dries out non-healing erosions on the palate or gums.

An equally common recommendation from dentists is to use diluted furatsilin for gingivitis. This dangerous disease is characterized by the appearance of ulcers on the gums. They not only cause severe pain and discomfort, but also threaten to develop into serious damage to the jaw bones and destroy healthy tooth roots. In this case, the drug stops the growth of harmful bacteria and reduces purulent lesions.

In other cases, the drug is simply irreplaceable for various skin wounds, infections of the pharynx and sinuses. It can be used to treat the epidermis on the face with severe rashes, and to wash out ulcers after chickenpox. It helps burned areas heal faster and relieves unpleasant itching sensations.

Rinse scheme

In order for the components of the drug to act more effectively, the aqueous solution of Furacilin must be warm.

Gargling for ENT diseases should be carried out according to the following scheme:

  1. We prepare a rinse solution from 1 (for children) or 2 (for adults) tablets.
  2. It is recommended to take the solution into the mouth in small sips.
  3. Next, you should throw your head back and say a drawn-out “Y”.
  4. The remaining liquid is spat out; at the end of the procedure, the oral cavity is not rinsed.

Important! Pronouncing the letter “Y” helps lower the root of the tongue. In turn, the active components of the drug penetrate directly onto the surface of the palate and tonsils.

Causes of inflammation

There are many factors for the development of this pathological process. If gum inflammation is diagnosed, most often its causes are:

  • improper oral hygiene, due to which pathogens easily multiply and penetrate the gum tissue;
  • a decline in immunity, in which the inflammatory process starts even with minor damage to the gums and the penetration of pathogenic microorganisms through the smallest wound;
  • the presence of tartar, which, accumulating in the gingival sulcus, exerts constant pressure, causing the onset of the inflammatory process;
  • a consequence of severe diseases of internal organs and body systems;
  • hormonal changes in the body;
  • bad habits: smoking and alcohol, constantly acting on the gums as a strong irritant, gradually provoke the onset of the inflammatory process;
  • vitamin deficiencies, in which many systems of the body begin to suffer due to a lack of vitamins, and the gums are no exception;
  • hereditary factors in the position of gums and teeth.

Use of Furacilin for children

In medicine, the use of the drug Furacilin is allowed for children of different ages - infants, preschoolers, schoolchildren and adolescents. The active components of the drug are safe, as they act locally, on the surface of the mucous membrane or skin, without penetrating into the bloodstream.

If the baby cannot gargle on his own, then his parents help him. It is convenient to irrigate a child’s larynx using a small spray bottle. You can treat your throat with a bandage or gauze, which is wrapped around your finger and dipped in a furatsilin solution. When processing, you must be careful not to provoke a gag reflex in the child.
