Release form, composition
Proposol is a domestically produced medicine.
The main component of the drug is propolis. Beekeeping products have been used by humanity for many years to treat various diseases. Main components:
- propolis - 6%;
- medical alcohol – 80-95%;
- glycerol - 14%.
Due to the high alcohol content in the preparation, it has a characteristic odor. The color of the liquid can vary from yellow to brown.
There are three forms of release of Proposol: tincture, emulsion, spray. Most often, it is the spray that is used, which is contained in small aluminum cans with a volume of 25 or 50 ml.
Each can is equipped with a mechanical sprayer and a special nozzle.
Pharmacological properties
Propolis is often used in folk medicine to treat infectious diseases and purulent-inflammatory processes. This was the reason to use it as the main component of the drug.
Propolis is a completely safe substance for the body and does not lead to worsening of the condition. There are practically no side effects, with the exception of an allergic reaction.
In the instructions for use, Proposol is characterized as a natural antibiotic that does not have a suppressive effect on the microflora of the oral cavity.
The drug actively fights pathogenic microorganisms, even in cases where they are resistant to many antibiotics.
Propolis contains a large number of healing substances:
- vitamins of groups PP, A, B;
- resins;
- flavones;
- organic acids;
- salt;
- minerals.
The beekeeping product, which contains natural substances, has the following effects on the body:
- destruction of pathogenic microflora;
- strengthening the immune system;
- improvement of metabolic processes;
- pain suppression;
- cell regeneration;
- gives elasticity to blood vessels, eliminating their fragility;
- protective function against free radicals.
Glycerol has a softening effect on the oral mucosa. This substance promotes moisture retention, thereby protecting the oral cavity from drying out.
Spray Proposol for pharyngitis and sore throat
The waste products of bees have been used by humans for medicinal purposes for a long time. For example, honey is traditionally used as a cold remedy. Another bee product, Propolis, has even greater medicinal activity than honey.
It can be purchased as a single substance or in the form of a finished drug. The second type includes Proposol spray, indicated as a regenerative agent for damage to the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat.
Aerosol Proposol is produced exclusively in Russia. This is due to the fact that bee products have traditionally been used by the population as food, for making drinks and as a microbial suppressant. In Western countries, where the problem of population allergies is very acute, beekeeping products are not used for medicinal purposes, because they are strong allergens.
Table. Composition of Proposol.
Substance | Quantity, % |
Propolis | 6 |
Medical alcohol, 95% | 80 |
Glycerol | 14 |
As can be seen from the table, the proportion of alcohol in Proposol is about 75-80% of the volume. Because of this, the drug has a pronounced alcohol smell. The color of the liquid is yellow, green, brown.
The drug is available in aluminum bottles with a drug mass of 25 g and 50 g. The bottles are equipped with a mechanical sprayer and a detachable spray nozzle.
Instructions for use for adults
Proposol is easy to use:
- Before first use, you should put the removable sprayer on the bottle and press several times to release the contents into the pump.
- Before each use, rinse your mouth and throat with water.
- The spray tube is inserted into the mouth and directed to the desired area of the mouth or throat.
- Breathing should be held while spraying.
- You should make 2-4 presses, ensuring the uniform distribution of the medicine throughout the affected area.
Since Proposol is aggressive towards mucous membranes, spraying is carried out no more than 3 times a day.
Is Proposal possible for children?
In accordance with the instructions for use, Proposol is contraindicated for children.
- A drug with a high volume fraction of alcohol. The amount of solution released per application contains 0.28 g of 95% alcohol.
- Highly allergenic product. Propolis contains up to 200 bee-fermented compounds, most of which can cause allergies.
- The manufacturer, in the instructions for use of the Proposol spray, warns that no special studies have been conducted on the safety of children's use.
- Proposol is one of the most irritating throat sprays. Causes a strong burning sensation after application (due to alcohol).
For children, there are less aggressive and often more effective throat sprays.
Is Proposol possible during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Instructions for use do not recommend using Proposol during pregnancy or lactating women. The safety of use in these categories of patients has not been tested. Considering the high allergenicity of the drug, as well as its predominantly alcoholic nature, the use of Proposol should be abandoned and replaced with more neutral drugs.
Indications for use
Propolis contains resins, essential oils, pollen, sugar and other components. Bees absorb these components, metabolize them, including enriching them with their own enzymes. Due to this, propolis acquires an antimicrobial effect. Bees use it as a disinfectant and insulating agent before laying eggs in honeycombs.
Propolis has a complex effect and includes:
- antimicrobial;
- anti-inflammatory;
- painkiller.
However, according to the pharmacological classification, the drug Proposol belongs to the group of tissue regeneration stimulators. This means that the drug can be used for the appearance of cracks, ulcers, and inflammation of damaged areas of the mucous membrane.
The main effect of Proposol is to promote faster healing of mucosal damage.
Proposol for inflammation of the oral mucosa
In accordance with the instructions for use, the main purpose of Proposol is the treatment of inflammatory processes in the oral mucosa, in particular:
- ulcerative formations in the oral cavity (aphthae, stomatitis);
- inflammation of the gums (gingivitis);
- inflammation of the tissues adjacent to the tooth (periodontitis).
These diseases are accompanied by bleeding and suppuration. Bacterial flora has a destructive effect, preventing wounds and ulcers from healing. Proposol has a double effect:
- stimulates and accelerates tissue restoration;
- inhibits the activity of microbial flora.
As a result, damaged areas of the mucosa heal within 3-7 days.
Proposol for sore throat and pharyngitis
The antibacterial effect of Proposol is determined by the combined effect of alcohol and propolis. The alcohol component leads to the coagulation of microbial proteins. Alcohol is effective against a wide range of microorganisms: bacteria, fungi, viruses. Bacteria resistant to antibiotics and synthetic antibacterial substances die from Proposol.
The good antimicrobial activity of the drug makes it effective for sore throats and other inflammations of the respiratory tract. Proposol for purulent sore throat can significantly reduce the number of microbes living on the mucous membrane. At the same time, the antibacterial activity in the presence of pus of this drug, unlike other drugs, is not reduced.
Proposol will be useful for pharyngitis. Plant polyphenols that make up propolis have an analgesic effect. Timely treatment can cope with a sore throat in 1-2 days.
In addition, propolis contains microelements that have a local immunostimulating effect.
Contraindications
Proposol has contraindications due to the peculiarity of its composition:
- individual sensitivity to bee products;
- allergies;
- skin eczema.
In addition, Proposol is contraindicated for children.
Propolis is included in numerous dietary supplements. In addition, it can be consumed in its pure form.
The closest analogue of Proposol in composition and indications is an alcohol tincture of propolis (80% alcohol). In the treatment of pharyngitis and tonsillitis, it is lubricated with the mucous membrane of the throat, after diluting the drug in water. You can gargle with a diluted solution of the tincture (15 ml in half a glass of water), and also inhale, diluting 1 part of the tincture in 20 parts of water. Propolis tincture diluted in saline solution (1:10) is used as a means for washing the nasal cavity and sinuses for sinusitis. This medicine is also indicated for various inflammatory processes of the oral mucosa: it is used as a rinse. For periodontitis, turundas soaked in solution are placed in the gingival pockets.
Thus, alcohol tincture of propolis can be used in the same cases as Proposol. At the same time, the tincture has an affordable price: a 25 ml bottle will cost at least 4 times less than the spray.
To treat a throat, you can find numerous aerosols in pharmacies that do not contain propolis, but are just as effective as Proposol. Cheaper drugs include:
- Miramistin (2 times cheaper if you compare the same volume of drugs);
- Kameton (2 times cheaper);
- Inhalipt (1.5 times cheaper);
- Lugol (slightly cheaper).
Miramistin is one of the best antiseptic agents currently available, effective against resistant microorganisms.
Cameton and Ingalipt contain a mixture of synthetic antibacterial substances (chlorobutanol in the first preparation and sulfonamides in the second) and plant extracts.
Lugol has an antiseptic effect thanks to natural iodine. However, the taste characteristics of this drug and the frequent burning sensation after use make its use unpleasant and problematic (especially in children).
Judging by the reviews, Proposol is not the drug of choice for the treatment of sore throat. Mainly due to irritation. Sick people who have tried to be treated with Proposol most often complain of excessive burning after spraying. Consumers recognize that the medicine does not have to be pleasant, but the irritation that this aerosol causes is almost impossible to tolerate.
Among the reviews about the use of Proposol throat spray, there are also sharply negative ones. For example, the unpleasant taste of the drug caused vomiting in some patients.
One woman said that after she used Proposol for several days, painful spots began to form on her tongue closer to the root, which, apparently, were alcohol burns.
However, a large group of consumers, recognizing the presence of the above side effects, speak positively about the medicinal properties of the drug. In particular:
- Proposol relieves pain well;
- effectively fights the inflammatory process;
- pharyngitis goes away in a couple of days.
Reviews of the use of Proposol for angina are generally similar to the reviews described above. Patients complain about the ability of the medicine to cause severe irritation. At the same time, in combination with taking antibacterial agents, the drug has proven to be an effective and inexpensive remedy that eliminates discomfort in the throat.
It should be noted that the drug does not contain any special analgesic component. The subjective sensation of pain decreases, mainly due to the burning sensation, which begins to dominate and pushes the pain syndrome into the background. There may be no pain for several hours after application, which is a good result compared to other sprays that contain anesthetic components.
Reviews when used in children
The instructions for use draw attention to the impossibility of using the drug for children. Despite this, some mothers attempted to treat their children with Proposol. It is not possible to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of using the spray in this category of patients, because All reviews about it mention a categorical negative reaction on the part of the child, which did not allow the drug to be used systematically for at least 1-2 days.
Propolis, which is included in the Proposol spray, is widely used to treat various diseases. You can learn about this from the following video.
Conclusion
Proposol spray is a unique medicine based on biologically active bee propolis.
The drug has good antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
Despite its medicinal properties and quite reasonable price, consumers rarely choose, and doctors rarely prescribe, Proposol for the throat because of its burning effect on the mucous membrane.
In addition, propolis is a highly allergenic plant product, additionally enriched with biologically active bee enzymes. Its use in people prone to allergies is unsafe.

Orasept for stomatitis
"Orasept" is an antiseptic with a pronounced analgesic effect. The active ingredient is phenol, which has an antimicrobial and fungicidal effect. An auxiliary component, glycerin, is used to soften the mucous membrane. Due to this complex effect on the oral mucosa, Orasept is often prescribed for stomatitis. Due to the lack of tendency to be absorbed into the bloodstream, the drug is approved for use in children (from 2 years of age) and pregnant women.
"Orasept" is a spray to eliminate ulcerative lesions of the oral mucosa.
"Orasept" is a liquid antiseptic of a dark crimson color with a pleasant cherry aftertaste. Available in aerosol form for repeated use. It is sold in pharmacies without a prescription and is contained in a medium-sized bottle (capacity 177 ml), equipped with a special spray device.
Main active ingredients:
- phenol, responsible for the bactericidal, antifungal, fungicidal effect;
- glycerin, which is responsible for the softening effect, which prevents irritation of the mucous membrane.
"Oracept" is widely used in dental and ENT practice, including for the treatment of stomatitis. The components of the drug are not absorbed into the systemic bloodstream, so the effect applies only to the treated areas. Consequently, the drug can be prescribed to children with the only condition - they reach 2 years of age. If you treat a child with an aerosol, the risk of developing laryngeal spasm increases. "Oracept" can be used to treat stomatitis in pregnant and nursing mothers.

Application
The duration of treatment and dosage are adjusted by the attending physician. It is important to start antiviral treatment in a timely manner, otherwise, after 2-3 days after stomatitis begins, Orasept will not be as effective as an independent treatment.
The standard course of treatment lasts 5 days. Even if the pain stops and the inflammation is partially relieved, you should not stop using it, as the healing effect will be lost.
Standard dosages:
- adults and children over 12 years old - 4-5 sprays every 4 hours;
- children from 2 to 12 years old - 3 each with the same time interval.
As treatment progresses, the doctor assesses the dynamics of the disease and studies the results of bacterial culture of a throat smear. The doctor retains the right to adjust the multiplicity and frequency of aerosol injections.
If there is no therapeutic effect within the first 5 days from the start of treatment with the spray, the patient is prescribed additional diagnostic procedures in order to identify the true causative agent of the infection. The tactics and treatment regimen are changing.

Reviews from doctors
Dentists recommend Orasept for the treatment of stomatitis in children, adults and pregnant women. They consider it one of the best antiseptics of our time. The drug effectively relieves inflammation and symptoms, fights pathogenic pathogens, eliminating the cause of the disease. Thanks to the complex effect, the risk of relapse of stomatitis is minimal.
If there is no effect from the use of the drug (which is unlikely), it is recommended to undergo additional examination to clarify the root cause, which may lie in concomitant internal pathology.

Application diagram
Proposol has different forms of release, each of them is used according to a specific scheme, according to the official instructions.
Aerosol
Spray Proposol is used to irrigate the oral cavity. The duration of the treatment course and dosage is determined at an appointment with the attending physician.
The individual characteristics of the patient, the etiology of the disease, and the complexity of its course are taken into account. Adults and children over 12 years of age with acute symptoms should irrigate for two seconds three times a day.
When the symptoms of the disease weaken, irrigation is carried out no more than twice a day. As a rule, the treatment course lasts about seven days, in some cases it can be extended to two weeks.
Using emulsion
The drug Proposol N is used for inhalation. The emulsion is diluted with hot water at a rate of 1 to 3. To quickly relieve inflammation and obtain a positive effect, the procedure is carried out twice a day, each of which lasts about 15 minutes.
Positive reviews about the Proposol emulsion indicate its effectiveness in relieving inflammation and pain in the oral cavity.
To prepare a solution, take 30 drops of the drug per hundred milliliters of water. Rinse your mouth at least 6 times a day for a week.
Application of tincture
In the form of a tincture, the drug helps well in the fight against inflammation of the middle ear and oropharynx. To treat otitis, two drops of the medicine are instilled into the ears. The procedure is repeated 4 times a day.
In another case, you can take a cotton swab, soak it in the tincture and put it in your ear for 10 minutes. The tincture also fights infections and inflammation of the oropharynx well. To do this, you need to prepare a solution, for which you take 15 ml of tincture for half a glass of water.
Rinse the mouth with the resulting product. Repeat the procedure up to five times every day. The duration of the course depends on the severity of the disease and ranges from one to two weeks.
The tincture has proven itself well in the treatment of inflamed tonsils. Apply the product to the inflamed areas twice a day until the symptoms disappear completely.
Proposol is actively used in the treatment of periodontitis. A small cotton swab moistened with tincture is inserted into the inflamed sinus.
Use of Proposol during pregnancy
Proposol during pregnancy is prescribed for the treatment of acute inflammatory processes on the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, their ulceration, redness, and swelling. The drug is effective for violations of the integrity of the skin and radiculitis. The wealth of medicinal properties of Proposol, the minimum of contraindications and side effects are due to its natural base - propolis. Composition and action
Proposol is a combination drug that has the following effects:
- anti-inflammatory;
- bactericidal (destruction of microbes that cause disease);
- fungicidal (death of fungal cells and mycelium);
- virostatic (blocking the development of viruses);
- anesthetic.
Resins, flavones, and benzoic acid ensure the death of all bacteria that cause inflammation in the throat and oral cavity. Even strains of viruses resistant to antibiotics die under their influence. Adaptation of viral cells to the action of Proposol is excluded, since the composition of propolis in each batch of the drug changes depending on the habitat of the bees and the plants from which they collected material for it.
Phenols strengthen blood vessels, relieve them from excessive fragility that occurs during inflammatory processes, and have anti-inflammatory and wound-healing activity.
B vitamins, vitamin A and E, nicotinic acid strengthen the local immunity of the oral cavity.
Glycerol moisturizes the mucous membrane, reduces its irritation, and prevents drying out.
Ethyl alcohol 96% concentration provides a powerful antiseptic effect.
So, according to the instructions, one bottle of Proposol (50 g) contains:
- propolis – 3 g;
- glycerin – 7 g;
- ethyl alcohol – 40 g.
Is it possible for pregnant women?
Yes, pregnant women should not be confused by the ethyl alcohol in the composition of the drug; when applied topically, it does not enter the circulatory system and does not accumulate in the body, which means it cannot cross the placental barrier.

The pro-ambassador has already helped more than one person in practice, as confirmed by numerous reviews.
The medicine really quickly relieves inflammation and swelling, however, the effect does not last long. I think the price is too high for such a product.
Lena, 30
When I had a very sore throat, this remedy was recommended to me. I bought an aerosol and immediately started using it. Already in the morning the pain subsided, and the swelling gradually went away. I only used it once, but I was pleased with the result.
