Pros and cons of Impro implants

Today, implantation is one of the popular procedures that allows you to restore both single included defects in the dentition and the complete absence of crowns. To carry this out, today many companies offer various models of artificial roots.

One such option is Impro implants. Having appeared on the market about 5 years ago, they quickly gained a reputation for high quality products.

What are they?

Impro implants are the latest system for restoring included defects in the dentition. They are distinguished by a unique shape and a varied assortment , thanks to which they are used for various types of implantation .

Manufacturer

The development and production of implants is carried out by the company Helmut Knigel, formed in Germany. Since its inception, it has been manufacturing high-tech products for various fields of medicine.

In addition, the company is developing products for the aerospace industry. Over the 5 years of its existence, Helmut Knigel has achieved a leading position thanks to the high quality of its products.

To restore teeth, the company offered various types of implants, available in more than 50 sizes.

How are they different from analogues?

Unlike most similar products:

  • To manufacture its implants, the manufacturer uses high-grade pure medical titanium , which is hypoallergenic and has the lowest rejection rate due to the complete biocompatibility of the root part of the product.
  • The implants have a cone-shaped appearance with a narrowing towards the apical part . This shape allows you to easily insert the rod into the bone bed of the alveolar ridge, with minimal tissue trauma.
  • The installation process is facilitated by self-tapping threads , which change their pitch along the entire length of the product. The root-like apical part allows you to evenly distribute the load on the artificial tooth immediately after its installation.

In order to speed up the healing process, the metal surface is pre-treated three times with a special solution, giving it porosity similar to the structure of real bone tissue. On average, the process of osseointegration "Impro" on the lower jaw is about 2 months, on the upper jaw 3 months .

The features of this system include the variability of additional orthopedic components, which allow you to select the most optimal option for each patient.

The connection to the abutments is made using a unique quad-thread, which prevents periodontal tissue from penetrating into the cavity of the artificial tooth. Additional protection is provided by microthreads located on the neck.

Universal implants Impro (Germany)

Impro implants are produced by the diversified German company Helmut Knigel, which has established itself as a reliable manufacturer of equipment and materials for various industries, in particular aerospace. Thanks to the developed technologies, the company was able to offer clinicians high-quality products: Impro implants are made of pure titanium and are very durable. Even the thinnest implant from this manufacturer can withstand a load of 100 kilograms or more. Another distinctive feature is a wide range of models: the company offers more than 50 different shapes and sizes of implants that are suitable for a wide variety of clinical cases. Impro implants feature a patented SuperH surface that goes through seven stages of cleaning before being applied directly to the titanium shaft. A single orthopedic platform allows the use of various types of abutments, which means achieving versatility in prosthetics.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like all other implant systems, Impro products have certain advantages and disadvantages.

The advantages of the system include the following:

  • availability of implants;
  • high quality and reliability;
  • versatility of application: they are used for both classical and simultaneous implantation;
  • the possibility of installation in bone tissue of poor quality and for various diseases that are a relative contraindication for the implantation procedure;
  • the loss of bone around the metal rod is eliminated;
  • quick and simple installation procedure, due to a special pin with rotation speed switching;
  • long service life. With proper care, the product can last throughout a person's life.

The disadvantages of this system include its insufficient distribution in Russia. Not all clinics will be able to offer Impro implants for dental restoration. And even where they are used, all models and sizes are not always available.

A little about the manufacturer

The scientific development and serial production of Impro implants is carried out by the world-famous company Helmut Knigel. Her homeland is Germany.

The history of the enterprise does not even last ten years, but in such a record short time it managed to create a high-tech product that meets European requirements.

The second direction of the company's work is the production of goods for the aerospace sector.

The Impro product line includes about five dozen items of various sizes and shapes.

Indications and contraindications

Implant installation is recommended for the following dental problems:

  • missing one or more teeth;
  • complete edentia;
  • absence of single crowns, the presence of which is necessary for prosthetics;
  • prevention of loss of jaw bone tissue;
  • small height of the processes of the alveolar ridge;
  • inability to use removable dentures.

Implantation cannot be performed if there are certain contraindications:

  • a period of acute inflammation of the bones in the area of the extracted tooth;
  • advanced diseases of periodontal tissues;
  • some pathologies of a psycho-neurological nature;
  • kidney or liver failure;
  • osteoporosis;
  • heart disease;
  • alcoholism;
  • pregnancy period;
  • bruxism;
  • decompensated form of diabetes mellitus.

The last three contraindications are not absolute, but can cause rejection of the metal root.

Kinds

The manufacturing company has developed several types of implants designed for various types of implantation of artificial teeth. Each has its own technological features and indications.

Submersible with micro thread

They are a product ranging in size from 3.6 to 7 mm in diameter, equipped with an external hexagon. The rod has a shortened neck, thanks to which there is no visible gap between the crown and the metal base.

This allows the use of immersion implants to restore the anterior row of teeth . But they are used with equal success to replace premolars.

The design can be used for single-stage installation with immediate loading. Uniform distribution of pressure on the crown is ensured by the external screw.

The only disadvantage of this model is that there is still a possibility of the screw unscrewing, which may result in structural failure.

Double thread

This model is equipped with a double thread with a smaller pitch in the neck area, which increases towards the apical base. The product has a flat tip that does not injure the alveolar bone and ensures the stability of the implant.

The thread design is unique. The aggressiveness of its cutting part decreases towards the base, which allows it to be used for setting into poor quality bone .

This model is used to restore both incisors and molars.

Transgingival

Unlike previous models, this product has a clearly polished volumetric neck. The main area of their use is the restoration of molars or premolars .

Thanks to the special shape of the base and the presence of longitudinal gaps on the threads in the lower part of the structure, it does not lose its stability even under heavy loads. Implants of this type are installed through a puncture, without extensive tissue trauma.

Mini implants

Impro mini implants are a unique design designed to be placed in poor quality or low volume bone .

The small size of the product makes it possible to implant it only for the restoration of crowns that are least exposed to stress. This model has a shortened neck and, as a rule, is installed directly with abutments or a crown.

Design Features

Impro implants are an opportunity to almost instantly restore functionality and appearance. To achieve such unique characteristics, the German manufacturer uses special technological developments in the production process. Let's look at each of them in more detail:

  1. A large assortment of models differing in diameter and length, allowing implantation even in the most difficult clinical situations. They are usually indicated in cases where classical implantation is prohibited.
  2. The medical titanium alloy is developed on the basis of high technological developments. It does not cause allergic reactions, even in people with a similar tendency. The design is ideally combined with the patient's living tissues.
  3. The special quad-thread shape reliably protects the artificial structure from excessive fouling with soft tissues.
  4. Self-tapping thread allows you to easily implant the product.
  5. The special shape of the rod guarantees not only convenience during the implantation process, but also minimizes the risk of tissue injury.
  6. Special treatment of the surface of the artificial root is created in such a way that there is a 100% guarantee of the absence of foreign particles that could negatively affect engraftment. In addition, the absence of oxidation processes during operation depends on it.

Installation sequence

The operation to implant the Impro metal root does not differ from the standard implantation procedure.

All manipulations take about 1 hour and are carried out in the following order :

  • Providing anesthesia. In most cases, local anesthesia is used for pain relief.
  • Aseptic tissue processing.
  • Gum section along the midline and transverse lines.
  • Detachment of a flap of soft tissue and exposure of the jaw bone.
  • Perforation of the bone to form a bed for the metal root. To do this, use a dental bur with a special attachment or a piezosurgical scalpel.
  • After the bed is formed, an implant with a self-tapping thread is inserted.
  • In a one-step procedure, a temporary abutment or crown is immediately installed on a metal rod. If the procedure is carried out in several stages, the implant is closed with a plug and membrane. After this, the structure is covered with a periodontal flap and sutured until the root is completely engrafted.
  • After the structure has taken root, the gum flap is peeled off again, and the plug is replaced with a gum former. It allows you to form a ridge of gum tissue around an artificial tooth, which will visually cover the transition of the implant neck to the crown.
  • At the last stage, the crown is fixed. This procedure lasts about 30 minutes and does not require anesthesia.

The duration of the entire implantation period will depend on the characteristics of each patient’s body, but on average treatment takes from 3 to 4 months.

Advantages

The rod implanted into the gum carries the function of the root system of the tooth, fixing its surface part - the abutment and crown.

According to reviews from practicing dentists, the designs discussed in the article have a number of advantages compared to analog products from competing manufacturers:

  • financial accessibility - products belong to the middle price segment, their installation can be afforded by a patient with a limited budget;
  • quality, durability and reliability - devices rarely cause rejection, their service life, subject to medical recommendations, is an order of magnitude longer than that of other brands;
  • a wide range of indications for use - they will be an ideal solution not only for carrying out the prosthetic procedure in a standard way, but also for a one-step technique, as well as in situations with a complex clinical picture of the structure of the root system of an organ;
  • the ability to implant an implant even into tissues that have a low quality structure against the background of diagnoses that, in principle, serve as contraindications to the procedure;
  • the design of the rod completely eliminates the formation of pathological processes associated with the decrease of bone encircling fragments;
  • installation of the structure is much faster and easier , which is due to the ability of the implant to switch the rotation speed;
  • a wide product line - a variety of sizes and shapes of products makes it possible to install a rod in place of any lost dental unit;
  • high aesthetic indicator - thanks to the support on the deep intraosseous layers, the product protrudes slightly above the surface and does not show through the crown;
  • ease of care - standard daily hygiene procedures are enough to ensure that the model lasts as long as possible;
  • versatility , allowing it to be combined with elements of systems of other brands;
  • unique surface – guarantees perfect cleanliness of the prosthesis;
  • faster healing and rehabilitation process;
  • the ability to perform bloodless operations for implantation.

The video explains in more detail the features and benefits of the systems.

Price

The cost of dental restoration services using Impro is within the range of 15–60 thousand rubles . The price is indicated for the implantation of one implant, and the price does not include preliminary treatment.

The variability of this service primarily depends on the status of the clinic.

In dentistry in the economy and standard segment the price does not exceed 30 thousand rubles. In VIP clinics it can be doubled or more, despite the fact that the price of one implant with components is 9 thousand rubles

Service life and cost

Cost of crown and abutment for impro implant

The manufacturer Impro claims a lifetime service life for its products. It is still difficult to judge how true this is, because the product appeared on the international market quite recently.

As for the cost of products, their price varies in the range from 20 to 65 thousand rubles. This is the amount for one dental unit, excluding the costs of preliminary diagnostics and preparatory measures.

This price range is determined by the patient’s region of residence and the status of the medical institution.

For example, in standard or economy class clinics, an event will cost no more than 35 thousand, and in prestigious institutions its cost increases 2-3 times, while the price of the implant itself does not exceed 10,000, taking into account the system’s components and elements.

Reviews

Many patients are alarmed by the low price of Impro. But those who decided to install them did not regret their choice. Most of them note the rapid engraftment of the titanium root and the ease of its installation .

In the future, the implant does not cause discomfort and is perceived as a natural tooth.

    Implantation is the only way to restore a full tooth without affecting others. Yes, it may be quite expensive in terms of finances and time, but it is really worth it. A high-quality implant can easily stand with a person all his life, and not worry him at all and be perceived as natural. I just have an Impro implant and am very pleased with it, just like a natural tooth.

    Since childhood, I have had problems with the chewing teeth of the lower jaw. Literally by the age of 18, they completely crumbled and crumbled. For about a year I did not dare to visit a doctor, and therefore my teeth were also covered with caries. When my girlfriend saw the condition of my oral cavity, I was immediately sent to see a dentist. The doctor said that it was impossible to save the teeth and suggested removing the remains and replacing them with implants. Today I don’t have to worry about pain, my smile doesn’t make me feel complex, and I no longer think about whether I can eat this or that product.

    An implant is a good solution to the problem of tooth loss. I encountered the following problem: the tooth began to rot and had to be replaced. I decided not to spare money, because teeth not only give a beautiful and aesthetic appearance, but also help in chewing food for its further movement through the gastrointestinal tract. I went to the dentist and decided to install an Impro implant. I am completely satisfied with it, it looks like a natural tooth and I don’t feel any pain.

    I am glad that today there are such methods. I assumed that only one tooth could be implanted using implantation. It turns out that it is also used to support bridges. This is especially true for older people. They often lose their prosthetics, and some of their butts are swallowed. I think that this method can eliminate such incidents. The main thing is that there are no contraindications.

    Nowadays implantation is done very often, I have two implants and they are no different from my teeth. My doctor offered many options, now there are enough manufacturers, everyone has a completely different price and quality of materials too. I chose something in between, I’m very pleased with the quality, and of course the doctor must also be a master of his craft, a lot depends on him.
